4th of July Weekend

While we were in Chicago my dad and Angela came out to visit us for the 4th of July weekend! We only had a short amount of time so we had to do everything we possibly could in 3 days! Day 1; the agenda said that we were going to go see the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum, unfortunately we got a later start than was planned and got stuck in traffic for 3 hours and spent the whole day in the car! By the time we got to the museums they weren't showing any shows anymore and they were closing in 2 hours which is NOT enough time to see anything, they are HUGE! So we bought the cheapest tickets just to walk the first floor of Shedd Aquarium and it was still pretty amazing, but I really couldn't let it go I was so upset that we didn't get to see the whales! But it still turned out to be a fabulous day and I got over it!

This turtle wanted to eat our fingers so bad!

Next we walked to the Taste of Chicago which is a pretty big deal around there. Any restaurant that is anything in Chicago has a booth and its this HUGE food festival.
(That i didnt get any pictures of because it was sooo packed and i didnt want to get my camera out and have someone steal it!)

Walking back to the car along this sidewalk that is right on Lake Michigan
On Saturday we got up bright and early and hit the town! We bought tickets for an Architecture tour on the river through the city. It was amazing, although I didn't get many pictures of that because it was so hot and sunny and Brody was going to get fried so I had to sit downstairs on the boat. Anyways we ate at the cutest little Corner Bakery, walked Michigan Avenue, went to the Face Fountains, saw Millennium Park and The Bean, and finished off with dinner and fireworks at Navy Pier.

Waiting for our Boat Tour

In the middle of the park they have these fountains that randomly show peoples faces from all over the world through the water.. Its pretty crazy and I don't really know how they do it but its awesome!. :)

L is for Loser dad...

More posing at the bean

Navy Pier is really neat, we spent a lot of time there on Saturday. Honestly Lake Michigan looks like the ocean. It is huge!
This is Forest Gump telling people about the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Our view from Lake Michigan on the Anita Dee watching the fireworks.

Lots and Lots of horse poop because there are lots and lots and lots of cops!!

Batman, the new Transformers, and Source Code were all filmed in Chicago.
(and I still rode the Metra after Ty made me watch Source Code; now that is bravery!)
This is what Brody looks like at 1 in the morning, it was a long day!
Sunday we went to the Chicago Cubs vs. The White Sox and it was so much fun! I guess Wrigley Field and Fenway Park are the only 2 fields that haven't updated and gone modern! People were still putting the numbers on the score board by hand!
Brody's first ball game
AMAZING seats! Thanks Dad :)

Holly cow its my First Cubs game!
(we totally stole this sign from the people above us after they left and took pictures with it!)

Brods and Grandps walking through the crazy crowd!

And the Cubs won!! YEAH!
Matching shirts.. ahhh cuuute!
On Monday we slept in and went to breakfast at about noon, then my Dad and Angela packed up and headed back home. It was a really sad day for me :( I hated saying goodbye! It was such a fun weekend and I loved every minute of it! Hands down best fourth ever! I love my family :)

  1. Hey Ash! We went and did the Chicago tourist thing a couple of weeks ago. When we went to Field Museum I was excited to see the Whale exhibit as well. The museum is awesome, and their is SO MUCH stuff! Everything you want to know about anything, they have it! The whale exhibit was disappointing, I was the same as you, I thought I would get to see a big huge well. NO-YOU DON'T. They have a whale bones constructed to make a whale and it is really interesting but not the coolest thing in the museum! So don't worry- you didn't miss much! But when you get to go-you'll love it. Although I thought Shad's was more fun!
