Washington DC

Tyler and I have been meaning to go down to Virginia to have a Sunday dinner with my great aunt, so we packed up and headed down there on Saturday night. We spent the night at her house and woke up super early in the morning to go site seeing around Washington DC. She only lives about a half an hour away so we had about 5 hours to see everything before our lunch at 1:30. We would like to go back someday and actually take our time to see all the museums and some of the awesome things that the city has to offer. Here are a few things we got to see!

Our first stop was the park with all the memorials. We saw the Vietnam Wall, the Korean War memorial, The world war II memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial.

The Lincoln Memorial over looks the reflecting pool so after we saw all the memorials we took a walk down to the George Washington Memorial.

The White House

The George Washington Memorial

Only certain parts of the Smithsonian Museum were open on Sundays so we didn't get to see half of what the museum has to offer which was a huge disappointment. But we did get to see the "Pile of Loot" from the movie "Night at the Museum, The Smithsonian" which was just a pile of crap they have collected over the years from Hollywood movies and sitcoms. The signs said they had everything from Archie Bunker's arm chair to The Fonz's leather jacket.

The Capitol Building

The actual copy of the Deceleration of Independence and The Bill of Rights were located in the National Archives Building right by the Smithsonian Museum, so Ty and I decided to run in and take a quick glance. We were running so behind for dinner at this point we didn't really get to take the time to really look at the documents and all of the other neat things they had in this building but we are glad that we were able to see such a huge piece of history.

The Eastern Coast Family
We had such a great time and are so glad that we had the opportunity to spend some time with family that we don't get to see very often. We were glad to get back to our junky little apartment though because we were so tired. We both took some medicine for our allergies and were out like light bulbs and slept for 12 hours! Tyler is back to work today and I'm just updating the blog and starting to get this appartment cleaned up so I can start packing up for my flight back to Utah! :)

4th of July

For the 4th of July Ty and I originally wanted to go to New York and watch the fire works on the Hudson Bay. How awesome would that have been? But it didn't work out due to NO money haha! So we decided to stay in Philadelphia and go to the Parkway where they had a live concert by Sheryl Crow and The Roots. I have never seen so many people in my entire life! It was crazy! We left our house at 5:30 and got to down town Philly about a half an hour later and we drove around for an hour and a half looking for parking, and every time we would find a spot Tyler had to ask the cops if it was alright if we park there haha it was so stupid! I never knew I married such a goodie goodie! It was ridiculous! Finally we broke down and decided to pay for parking. When we finally got to the festival we walked around and looked at everything and then Ty decided he wanted some corn, 2 hours later we finally reached the stand! The line for the baked corn was outrageous! Even though it was so packed we had a great night together and it was so nice to spend some time with my husband considering he is always working!
With other news, I am coming home on July 20th and I am so excited! Tyler will be staying in Philadelphia for another couple months to finish off the summer. I am going to miss him to death! But then again I cant wait to go home to my house and my new dining room table! :) AH! I hope everyone had a happy 4th!
