Tyler and I have been meaning to go down to Virginia to have a Sunday dinner with my great aunt, so we packed up and headed down there on Saturday night. We spent the night at her house and woke up super early in the morning to go site seeing around Washington DC. She only lives about a half an hour away so we had about 5 hours to see everything before our lunch at 1:30. We would like to go back someday and actually take our time to see all the museums and some of the awesome things that the city has to offer. Here are a few things we got to see!
Our first stop was the park with all the memorials. We saw the Vietnam Wall, the Korean War memorial, The world war II memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial.
The Lincoln Memorial over looks the reflecting pool so after we saw all the memorials we took a walk down to the George Washington Memorial.

Only certain parts of the Smithsonian Museum were open on Sundays so we didn't get to see half of what the museum has to offer which was a huge disappointment. But we did get to see the "Pile of Loot" from the movie "Night at the Museum, The Smithsonian" which was just a pile of crap they have collected over the years from Hollywood movies and sitcoms. The signs said they had everything from Archie Bunker's arm chair to The Fonz's leather jacket.
The actual copy of the Deceleration of Independence and The Bill of Rights were located in the National Archives Building right by the Smithsonian Museum, so Ty and I decided to run in and take a quick glance. We were running so behind for dinner at this point we didn't really get to take the time to really look at the documents and all of the other neat things they had in this building but we are glad that we were able to see such a huge piece of history.

looks like fun....wish I was there
